Once these beans have been dried, they are ready to be roasted. Most whole flavored coffee beans you find will be of a medium roast. This ensures that the flavor of the coffee and flavor extract are in perfect harmony. The medium roast allows flavor to be retained and the drinker to still distinctively taste coffee.
Once the beans are roasted, they're then cooled. After cooling, the flavor is added by coating the bean with flavor compounds that can be natural or synthetic. These compounds are usually diluted with water or vegetable oil. The flavoring can be applied a number of ways, through mixing, spraying or tumbling in a machine that operates similar to your clothes dryer. Once the beans have been coated, they are immediate packaged to preserve the freshness.
