Millstone Coffee (http://www.millstone.com)

Millstone has two light coffees with Kona beans. Their Kona Blend coffee is a medium bodied Arabica and Kona coffee bean blend that is light-roasted, perfect for a breakfast coffee. The Millstone people describe it as having a crisp acidity with a “champagne-like finish.”

Their Hawaiian Blend features Arabica and all Hawaiian island beans, including Kona beans, blended resulting in a floral and citrus essence. You can buy either of their Kona bean coffees whole bean or ground.

CoffeeAM (http://coffeeam.com)

CoffeeAM has a medium roast Kona Blend that is neither too dark or too light. The blend is formulated with South and Central American coffee beans and Kona beans. They have four ways to order your Kona Blend: whole bean, drip ground, French pressed, or espresso ground.

First Colony Coffee (http://www.firstcolonycoffee.com)

First Colony Coffee is a Virginia based company that celebrated their 100 year anniversary back in 2002. In 2007, they underwent some big changes to their brand image, giving the company a more sophisticated appearance and updating their line of blends.

Their Kona blend coffee is part of their Heritage coffee blend series. It combines Arabica and Kona beans in a medium bodied coffee that is sweet and aromatic. It is expensive at $12.00 for 12 oz. but definitely makes up for the cost in quality. They also have specialty coffees with Ghiradelli cocoa for chocolate lovers and Jack Daniel’s whiskey coffee for the whiskey buff.

If you’re looking for a Kona blend coffee, be sure to check the packaging to find out what percent of Kona beans are used in making it. Some blends are filled with Arabica beans and very little Kona beans. Most coffee labels will say something like “no less than 10% Kona beans.”

Kona blend coffees are a cost conscious alternative to pure Kona bean coffees if you're on a budget, so look for a good price that still has a percentage on the label, ensuring that you will get the best coffee for your money.
